The story mimics its predecessors’ playful jokes despite the peril that surrounds the characters. By the end of the book, many of the main characters find love. Despite the wrongs of this book, it is a truly an entertaining read and a sweet love story. Many of the happy scenes were sandwiched between scenes of sadness of conflict. Many of the Scions got together, now that the Furies no longer pester them, but their gathering only seems to bring more conflict and rifts rather than unity. With all the abilities she received, there seems to be no one who can face her or put up a decent fight against her. Helen becomes extremely powerful, but it seemed like she became too powerful. She longs for Lucas, but knows they can never be together so she tries to love Orion in an attempt to help herself and Lucas move on.įor me, Goddess was a bittersweet book. On top of everything going around Helen, she is still facing in inner war. This change frightens some of her friends and her increase in power makes her intimidating. Helen became slightly colder and more focused on protecting her friends as well as achieving her goal. Although the challenges made her stronger, she didn’t come out unscathed. With each book she gained more control over her power, but she also was battered down by a series challenges. She started out the series with a innocent, quiet voice and unaware of her power. Helen has made an amazing transformation over the series. A war with the gods is just beginning and it is up to Helen to decide who will come up on top and who gets sent to Tartarus. After several centuries, the Great Cycle, which began with Helen of Troy, is coming to an end. Hanging over the heads of the main characters is a prophecy spelling for the Tyrant who is hiding among them. As they grow, some of her friends begin to fear her and they are forced to choose whether they will stand with her or against her. Helen is haunted with visions of the past and her powers stronger each day. The gods of Olympus have now been released upon the world, thanks to Helen, Lucas and Orion becoming blood brothers. Goddess is the final book in Josephine Angelini’s Starcrossed trilogy.
